During this one day tour, you will have the chance to explore one of the most beautiful cities in North Macedonia and the amazing Ohrid lake. You will be guided by a highly educated professional guide who will do his best to make this trip unforgettable. 

In the morning, at 8:00 am, you will be picked up by your guide from your hotel/accommodation in Skopje. You will have a beautiful 3 hours transfer to your destination. You will have the chance to see the countryside of North Macedonia. Ohrid is a small resort city on the hilly shores of Lake Ohrid in the southwest of the Republic of Macedonia. In the city’s compact old town, medieval churches, monasteries, and open-air ruins stand alongside traditional houses with red-tiled roofs. Some of the highlights which you will visit are the Ancient theatre of Ohrid, Samoil's fortress, Church Perivlepta, and many more. 

After we finish with the city of Ohrid we will heat towards Ohrid lake the famous Monastery of St. Naum. It will take us around an hour's drive but you will not regret it. Despite the monastery, you will also have the option for an amazing boat trip and visit the natural underwater lake springs and the Forgotten church. Situated deep in the dense pine forests of Rila Mountain, Rila Monastery is the biggest and most important Orthodox cloister in Bulgaria .It is an outstanding example of the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage, in which architecture and painting merge harmoniously. The site is part of UNESCO world heritage list. Rila Monastery was found in 10th century by St Ivan Rilski, a hermit canonized by the Orthodox Church. His ascetic dwelling and tomb became a holy place and later on a monastic complex was formed. It played an important role in the spiritual and social life of medieval Bulgaria.
After the guided visit of the Monastery complex and lunch, we will head back to Sofia. One the way we will stop at the second UNESCO site for the day Boyana church. Small but unique with the most preserved frescoes from 1259 on this part of Europe.The tour will end with drop off at your hotel/accommodation.

Asen's Fortress is situated on the top of a cliff in Rodopi Mountain, at approx. 20 km distance from Plovdiv. It is a Medieval fortress with a rich history and breathtaking view.
Bachkovo Monastery - The monastery was founded in 1083 by Prince Gregory Pakourianos, a prominent statesman and military commander in the Byzantine service, as a Georgian-dominated Orthodox monastery. Although the monastery survived the first waves of the Turkish invasion in Bulgarian lands, it was then looted and destroyed, but restored near the end of the 15th century. The refectory, whose mural paintings by an anonymous painter bear a significant artistic value, was reconstructed in 1601 and the Church of Mary, still preserved today, was finished in 1604.

In this one day tour, you will have the chance to get acquainted with the communist period (socialistic period) in Bulgaria. The socialistic republic of Bulgaria existed from 1946 until 1989. This is one of the most controversial parts of modern history. But one thing is for sure - like any other political system, communism (socialism) bequeathed us both things that we would like to forget and others that we can admire.

Our trip will start with pick up from your hotel at 09:30. First, we will visit the Museum of Socialist Art in Sofia. There we will have the chance to see over 70 works of monumental sculpture, exhibited in a park covering 7,500 sq.m. On a special pedestal, the large five-pointed star that once crowned the former Party House in the center of Sofia is on display.

When we finish our walk in the museum we will continue the trip to our next destination - Buzludzha monument, which is one of the most notable from the socialist period After approximately a 3-hour scenic drive we will reach Buzludzha monument. It was erected in 1981 to commemorate socialism. Work on the monument began in 1974 and was undertaken by units of the Bulgarian Army assisted by numerous artisans responsible for the large statues and murals. After the government’s fall from power in 1989, the site was abandoned and left open to vandalism.
