The Forgotten Hills

Round trip starting from the historic center of Lucca. Climb along the tree-lined section of the city walls, where you could admire the town from above. Then leave it and continue towards the River Park. Follow the river Serchioand ride along the level trail until you get to the village of Cerasomma. Here you will pass through the narrow alleys of the village built around the church and breathe in the air of a past era. Moving through rolling countryside and reaching lookouts over the Apuans mountains in the distance, you will appreciate vineyards, farmhouses and historical estates, where the surroundings become rural and quiet. Meati and Gattaiola are two gems of this green territory, you will stop to visit the two churches in Romanesque style: S. Michele and S. Andrea, built with the stone of the nearby quarry. You'll stop for a relaxing break in a typical farm, specialized in the production of wines. Here you’ll have a snack on local products and a glass of red wines of the cellar. You will finish the circle returning to the city along the cycle path.  Absolutely Amazing Lucca!
