Freetour Vigo

Description
Free walking tour in the city centre of Vigo, going through the pedestrian Old Town and the most modern part of the city.
The tour begins at Porta do Sol, the very heart of the city, where we will explain the evolution of Vigo throughout the centuries: how it started as a small Celtic village, developed into a sailors' town, and eventually became the most populated city in northwestern Spain and the industrial centre of Galicia.
We will then take the escalator (yes, it's on the street) to San Sebastian castle, from where you will take delight in an amazing view of the whole bay. Soon after we will return to the historic part of the city, made up of cobbled, pedestrian streets that take us back in time. The visit finishes facing the Atlantic Ocean, in the promenade, next to a huge statue of an octopus taken from a worldwide famous book.
Why is Vigo called the Olivic City? Why are the Cies Islands so special? What is the connection between Jules Verne and Vigo? What are those big black things floating on the bay?
If you want to find out the answer to all these questions and discover many other curiosities of Vigo, join us on this free walking tour. At the end of the tour, you are free to pay as much as you want.
