Freetour A Coruña

Description

Essential tour that encompasses the most distinguished areas of A Coruña: the Old Town, the most modern part and the beautiful seaside promenade surrounding the city. Even though the tour focuses on the history and monuments of the city, you will also learn about renowned people from A Coruña and many other curiosities. Discover A Coruña, the city where “nobody is a foreigner” because of its open, heart-warming inhabitants.

The tour kicks off at María Pita Square, where we will explain the evolution of the city throughout the centuries. We will begin with its origin as a Roman village, describe its military importance in the history of Spain and understand how it became a beautiful, modern city by the Atlantic Ocean.

At the starting point, we will discover why this square is devoted to Maria Pita, the saviour of A Coruña. We will then access the Old Town, made up of pedestrian, cobbled streets. We will pay a visit to Saint Carlos’ Gardens, enjoy a magnificent sight of the bay, and talk about the English Way of St. James that goes through A Coruña. The tour will then take us to La Marina, a charming promenade by the seaside, to eventually reach the Royal Nautical Club. We will also have the chance to glide past the extraordinary glass galleries that give A Coruña the name of “Crystal City” or “Atlantic Balcony”. Carrying on with our tour, we will get to the most modern area through the Calle Real (Royal Street) and the Obelisco, a vibrant place at the heart of A Coruña. The tour ends between the beaches of Orzán and Riazor, both lapped by the Atlantic Ocean.

What is the Hercules Tower? Why is it placed in A Coruña? Why is there a British general buried in A Coruña? What are the most important companies in the city?

We will talk about worldwide famous painters, fashion brands from A Coruña, and the most famous Galician beer. At the end of the tour, you are free to pay as much as you want.
