Private Golden Circle Tour

Description
Your experienced guide will pick you up in Reykjavík and, when everyone is comfortably seated in your private vehicle, your adventure will begin! After leaving the city limits, your local guide will drive you through Hellisheiði, a lava plateau, while following Route 1. This will take us to the Golden Circle, the sightseeing route that has become a global phenomenon.
The first visit of the day is at a site that has great historic and geographic significance. Þingvellir National Park is the place where the Eurasian and North-American tectonic plates join, forming a continental rift valley that is speckled with impressive cracks and fissures. This site was also the location of Althingi, the first parliament of Iceland.
While strolling along Almannagjá Gorge, marveling at the beautiful volcanic scenery around you, you’ll literally be in the middle of two worlds. In the settlement era, this valley was where the chieftains decided amongst themselves the laws that their people would follow and also settled the biggest family feuds that the Viking Age had to offer.
After we leave Thingvellir behind, our next destination will be Haukadalur. This geothermal valley is the home of the geyser which all others of its kind are named after. The Great Geysir does not erupt as often now but its neighbor Strokkur is exceptionally active, shooting boiling water high into the sky every 10 minutes. The surrounding mud pools, hot vents, and fumaroles are sure to pique both your interest and your appetite. We’ll stop for a snack before getting back in the vehicle to visit the jewel the Golden Circle route was named after.
Gullfoss, also known as the Golden Falls, is an impressive two-tiered waterfall. The power of the water falling over this cascade into the canyon below is truly astounding. The viewing platform is perfect for seeing this spectacle up close and personal, to get a true sense of its unharnessed strength.
If the weather permits, we’ll visit either Faxi, a small, beautiful waterfall, or Kerið, a 3000-year-old crater lake located in the middle of a volcano (a small extra admission fee, 600 ISK/ person, need to be paid on location). After that, our adventure will have ended and it’ll be time to return to Reykjavik.Private tour of the famous Golden circle
