Mount Semeru Trekking

Description

This trip starts from Surabaya Airport and ends at the same airport. The trekking trip takes 4 days of the fully organized private trip. Mount Semeru is also known as Mahameru (“Great Mountain”), is one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes. What stands out most about this mountain is the fact that it erupts periodically (and very reliably so). Every 20 min or so, the volcano belches out a huge cloud of steam and smoke, sometimes interspersed with ash and stones.

You will encounter steep ascents and descents on a fairly good system of tracks whilst on the trek. A good level of fitness is required. All your camping gear is supplied but if you want to take your own lightweight sleeping bag or sleeping mat that’s fine. As the trip run in private, you can always discuss with your guide your level of fitness or anything that makes you comfy during the trek.

Mount Semeru Trekking Itinerary

DAY 01: AIRPORT PICK UP – TRANSFER IN – RANUPANI VILLAGE (L, D)
Upon arrival at Juanda Airport – Surabaya / Abd. Rahman Saleh – Malang, meet and greet with our guide, then transfer to Ranu Pane, a village on the slope of Semeru mountain. Mid-afternoon arrive in Tumpang village and change by local Jeep 4WD and next to Ranu Pane. Late afternoon arrives at Ranu Pane, stay overnight at local homestay.
 
DAY 02: RANU PANE VILLAGE – RANUKUMBOLO LAKE – KALIMATI CAMPSITE TODAY (B, L, D)
After taking a permit from the national park, you will start trek to the Kalimati campsite bypass through the Ranukumbolo lake.
Stay overnight in the dome tent at Kalimati campsite. Our guide team will cook your meals here.
 
DAY 03: SUMMIT MOUNT SEMERU – KALIMATI CAMP – RANUPANI VILLAGE (B, L, D)
Early morning climb to the summit of Mount Semeru (3,676 M). It will take 4 hours ascending the sandy path and rocky stone. Ater summit at and take a picture at the top Semeru Mountain, then back to Kalimati and Continued back to Ranu Pani. Stay overnight at Local Homestay.
 
DAY 04: RANU PANE – DEPARTURE TO AIRPORT (B)
After having breakfast, then transfer to Juanda Airport – Surabaya / Abd. Rahman Saleh – Malang.
