Freetour Nocturno Mujeres de A Coruña

Description

Guided tour for groups at dusk that focuses on the stories of different women that have left an important legacy in the city of A Coruña.

The visit starts at the square named after our local heroine, María Pita. Apart from her story and the reason behind her significance in the city, we will also talk about other personal, lesser-known aspects of her life, such as her relationship with her sister. The tour continues at Saint George’s church, where two women made something extraordinary a century ago. We will then pay a visit to Saint Mary Collegiate church and Saint Barbara square. Of course, this tour cannot overlook the role of two consequential Spanish women writers, Rosalía de Castro and Emilia Pardo Bazán. We will also mention other women that have made an impact in the history of the world despite being less renowned, such as Isabel Zendal.

This tour won’t just focus on the stories of all these women, but also pay close attention to other topics related to the mysteries of A Coruña and Galicia, as it is the case of Saint James the Moor-Slayer or our cruceiros, which you will find all around the Old Town of A Coruña.

Why is María Pita considered to be the heroine of A Coruña? Have you heard about Elisa and Marcela? How are eggs and cloister nuns related? Do you know what the Royal Philanthropic Vaccine Expedition was?

Join us for this guided tour by night along the streets of A Coruña if you want to find an answer to all these questions and many other curiosities of the city. At the end of the tour, you are free to pay as much as you want.
