Snekker Haakon Loe

Description
Sawdust. Pine, spruce and oak. Chisel, hammer and planes. Lacquer and paint, pitch color and tincture. So much that you may never have seen before, or maybe you've used a lot of it or seen it at grandpa's. Everything stems from a time when craftsmanship was in the driver's seat. The images of old buildings and people; everything testifies to a time that is so foreign to us today.
Not too far from the Meyergården hotel, is the old carpentry workshop of Haakon Loe. A small, simple house, almost on top of the hill. You enter the first floor, where he spent a lifetime making furniture in the carpentry workshop in Kaialunden. The tools he used still hang on the walls, and the entire carpentry workshop has been preserved as he left it at his death, with all tools, templates and surface treatment as he left it. Yes, it's almost as if you're waiting for him at the door at any moment!
Haakon Loe is known for having made a whole lot of furniture that is located in homes around the city, among other things there are wedding chairs in Mo church, and he made almost all the furniture that is in the old wing of the Meyergården hotel.
Come and experience the atmosphere from a bygone era!
Our guides will tell you about his life, the tools and products he made, and show you the carpentry workshop.
NOTE! This experience is NOT carried out with less than 5 participants! BUT, if you want, you can pay for 5 and be less!
