Nafplio-Mycenae Private Tour

The first stop of our trip will be in Mycenae where you can admire the walls of the residential area of Mycenae, as indicated by the number of private houses brought to light by the excavations. However the landscape here is dominated by the “Grave Circle B”, and the monumental tholos tombs, among them the ones attributed to the legendary royal family of Mycenae. The burial monuments of Mycenae also yielded the treasure of finds, now exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum and at the on site Museum of Mycenae.

Get to know the best of Nafplio on a 2-hour walking tour of the city led by a local guide (if you chose so). As you stroll between the sights, hear fun facts and history about the city, including how it served as the first capital of Greece. Stop for photos of the prettiest landmarks such as the Old Mosque, Vouleftikon and harbor island fortress of Mpourtzi. Meander along picturesque lanes and stepped streets, pass by neoclassical mansions and flower-filled balconies; and discover examples of the city’s Frankish, Venetian and Ottoman periods.

This tour is for you if you are visiting Nafplio for the very first time and want to see as much as possible.
Itinerary starting from the Land Gate: we enter within the walls of the Old city and we visit among others the Cathedral and the square of Saint Spyridon where  the first Governor of Greece was murdered.

You continue your walk to the Syntagma Square, the heart of the city, and you explore its historic buildings from different periods such as the Archaeological Museum, the Vouleftikon, that housed the first parliament of the free Greek state and the Old Mosque. Finally you head to the little peaceful port to explore the Venetian fortress of Mpourtzi, the trademark of the city, built on the island of Agioi Theodoroi.
After your visit we head back to Athens.
