Ecological Family Summer Holiday by lake, 7 days

On this family rail holiday in Central Finland you'll visit two destinations in the lake district of Finland, Hankasalmi and Kuopio by train.

Your tour starts from Helsinki Central Railway Station (starting place can be changed), where you take a train towards Hankasalmi where you will be picked up to a lakeside family holiday resort. You will stay in cozy log cabins unless you want to upgrade to a family glass igloo. Have a look around the resort, have dinner at the resort restaurant and spend a relaxed evening looking at the night skies. 

You will be kept busy at the resort as there is a lot to do. First,  you will have a nature hiking trip with a local guide, in the afternoon you can choose a self-guided activity such as e-fatbiking, water cycling, disc golf or SUP boarding 2h. On next day, the guide will take you on an e-fatbike safari (if children are too small for e-fatbikes, we'll suggest another trip). Don't forget to try sauna with swimming in lake daily.

After two full days at the lakeside resort, you will take a train to Kuopio and spend more time in the lake district but this time in a unique, lakeside hotel  in a small town called Kuopio. You will have a suite with your own log sauna and an own terrace and a pier, so you can go swimming directly from your hotel room. Summer life in Kuopio takes place right next to your hotel. You can find a fantastic city golf course, padel, and petanque courts as well as a water activity center and the Saana spa, terrace restaurants, and bars. On your second morning in Kuopio, we'll take you on a guided kayak tour, and in the afternoon, you will visit Puijo recreational area with well-marked hiking routes and a great disc golf track, in midsummer also other sporty activities. After an active day in Kuopio, a rich dinner will be served on top of Puijo sightseeing tower with splendid views. You will see what we mean by lake district.   

Next morning, you will travel back to Helsinki or your next destination by train. It is possible also to stop in Jyväskylä or Tampere between the trains or add a day or two in Helsinki before or after the tour.
