About Yama-dera temple (Risshaku-ji temple)
Risshaku-ji was built on the top of the mountain about 1,200 years ago. It is listed in a nationally-designated important cultural property as the oldest beech wooden structure.
It is said that one desire disappears in each climb of 108 steps that will purify your body. Thereafter, another 907 steps will be waiting for you! The total climb is 1,015 steps and will take about 30 minutes. You will then reach the top of the mountain where you can admire the beautiful view. The temple and the town’s view from the mountaintop is just magnificent.
About Nikka Whisky Sendai Factory Miyagikyo Distillery
Nikka Whisky Sendai Factory Miyagikyo Distillery is surrounded by a deep forest and two rivers. It is 200,000 kilometre squares and was founded in 1969 in Miyagikyo as the second distillery of Nikka Whisky.
Observation will be conducted in Japanese, but your guide will translate this into English for you. After a factory tour, you will have a chance to taste three different kinds of whisky (complimentary). You can also enjoy aging whiskey at a bar at your expense. (A half shot of whisky: around 400 yen)
