Exploring Shorelines: Marine Biodiversity Walk

Description

Reef walking is a great way to explore areas of reef uncovered at low tide. You can interact closely with the marine environment and discover a variety of marine plants and animals.

The waters around Singapore, contrary to popular belief, are still teeming with marine life. A suitably low tide and a pair of sturdy shoes or booties is all we need to go exploring on this reef walk.

The intertidal zone is the area along the shore that is usually submerged at high tide and becomes exposed at low tide. This sensitive zone is home to a large variety of interesting creatures that have developed special adaptation to survive the stressful and regularly changing environment that comes with the changing tides.

And the best way to enjoy the marine life is to come armed with, not a bucket and shovel, but a camera and a curious mindset to learn about the various creatures that can be spotted on our shores.
