Half-Day Horseback Riding Mistic Tour (474777)

Embark on a journey through the breathtaking landscapes and secluded trails on the outskirts of Cusco as you traverse the region on horseback. On this half-day tour, uncover the history of the ancient Inca Empire with a trek up the mountain to the archeological site of the Temple of the Moon.

We will collect you from your hotel to take a short drive to a local ranch where you will get on a horse to match your comfort and experience level as you learn tips for maneuvering the animal over the rugged terrain.

Once you're ready to ride on your own, set off north toward the summit of Huayna Picchu, traveling over rocky trails and forested hills. Upon arrival, you're greeted by the ancient ruins of the Temple of the Moon, a mysterious site that may date back more than 2,000 years.

Hop off your horse to explore the ruins, making your way inside a shallow cave. Here, marvel at the carvings and altars that fill the space, as well as the cracks that allow moonlight to shine into the cave at night. We will find a throne in the center of the cave and some steps that lead down into a deeper cave. Your guide will share insight into the history of the ruins, which some believe were at one time used to hold mummies.

Outside the cave, hike to the top of the climb to see more incredible carvings and shrines, which to this day have yet to be explained. Gaze out upon jaw-dropping views of the dramatic cliffs of nearby Machu Picchu before making the trek back down the mountain.
