Ravenna from Venice

Description

This tour guides back to the past. Starting from Venice, visit Chioggia, an old fishermen city, famous to have been one of the first enemy of the Republic for the supremacy on the Adriatic Sea. Then the little but still in good condition, Pomposa Abbey, before getting to Ravenna. It was an important spiritual and cultural centre created by the Benedictine community around the 10th century. Ravenna will welcome with the splendour of her mosaics, so precious and unique to be in the UNESCO World Heritage list. See the “Neonian baptistery”, “St. Apollinare Nuovo Church”, and the “Teodorico Mausoleum”, all evidences of how this city was important and central during the kingdom of Teodorico, who symbolized the mixing of the Byzantine Empire and the Roman Empire.
