Castello District

Description
Walk along the large Riva degli Schiavoni to reach the Arsenale and Via Garibaldi, a large street with many bars, osterias, restaurants and shops. At the end of it, across a long wooden bridge, lies the site of San Pietro di Castello, the former Basilica of Venice, while San Marco was still the Doge’s chapel. This area is very popular, where all workers of Arsenale used to live. Still now local people gather in these little squares to enjoy life chatting and drinking a glass of wine.
