Private Knossos, Lasithi Plateau, Krasi & Olive Oil Factory

Description

The tour commences with a visit to the renowned Knossos Palace, the  ceremonial and political center of the Minoan Civilization during the  Bronze Age. Delve into the awe-inspiring palace, originally constructed  for King Minos, which stands as the oldest city in Europe and a cradle  of Western Civilization.

Departing from Knossos, our journey follows the picturesque coastal  road eastward toward the traditional olive oil factory. Immerse yourself  in the process of harvesting and producing the revered "liquid gold" -  olive oil. Learn about its remarkable properties and savor its exquisite  flavor. While traversing the mountainous terrain, revel in the diverse  flora and fauna, surrounded by countless olive trees.

Take a moment to marvel at one of the world's oldest plane trees in  the village of Krasi. Capture unforgettable moments on the quaint,  stone-paved square and relish the traditional "raki" drink next to the  natural springs. En route to the Lasithi Plateau, amidst the lush  greenery of Northern Dikti, pay a visit to the historic Kera Kardiotissa  Monastery.

Our next destination is the expansive Lasithi Plateau, Crete's  largest plateau. Once home to the first, largest, and most magnificent  wind farm in the world, boasting approximately 13,000 windmills in the  1950s. While only a few windmills remain operational today on the  fertile plain, nestled amid the imposing Dikti Mountains, you can  explore the majestic Diktaean Cave, the legendary birthplace and  sanctuary of Zeus, offering breathtaking vistas of the Lasithi Plateau  along the scenic route.

In the midst of picturesque surroundings, savor a delectable traditional homemade Cretan meal. (Optional)

Conclude your journey in the traditional village of Mochos, where you  can engage with the locals at the village cafes and embrace the spirit  of Crete. As the tour comes to an end, you'll be chauffeured back to  your location, carrying cherished memories and a heartwarming smile.
