Rio Celeste Hike Tour

Description
According to local legend, God washed his brush the Rio Celeste after he painted the sky. Seeing the blue-tinged waters of this river, this legend makes great sense. This full day excursion begins with a hike through the primary forest in Tenorio Volcano National Park. While walking the trails you will find a wide variety of flora and fauna species. The walk continues until you reach the waterfall that is really impressive and is near the most intense blue color of the river. This tonality is the result of the chemical mixture between sulfur and carbonate that originate in Tenorio Volcano. The walk continues along the river bank to finally reach the hot springs.
Due to recent regulations of MINAET (Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications) it is not possible to swim inside the Tenorio Volcano National Park. This tour is recommended to people who like to walk or lovers of outdoor activities. It is necessary to be in good shape since the walk requires a bit of resistance. The average travel time from La Fortuna to Tenorio Volcano National Park is about 2 hours.
