Know before you go

The main thing to bring is a sense of adventure and humor! But, of course, there are also a few other necessities:

  • B-Driving License and an International Driver's License (IDP) (IMPORTANT):
    • If you plan to drive one of the Tuk Tuk's, it's crucial that you bring your home driving licence and an International Driving Licence (IDP). International driving licences are small 'grey' books recognised around the world which back up your regular driving licence, and they are usually easy and quick to obtain for a token price.
    • You can obtain your international driving licence by appearing in person at the civic service of any municipality. Before you show up at civic services, make sure if your municipality requires an appointment before attending. It costs 25 DKK and takes a short time to make. You must bring:
      • your valid Danish driving licence
      • passport photo according to current regulations.
  • Travel insurance-IMPORTANT
    • Travel insurance is mandatory but it is not included and it is your responsibility to make sure you have appropriate cover for all aspects of your trip. Ask your insurance company or talk to us before departure if you do not have travel insurance.
  • Clothing
    • This is of course up to you, but we recommend sneakers (or similar) for driving days (not flip-flops/sandals) and comfortable shorts/t-shirts/long sleeve t-shirt for driving days (which you don't mind getting dirty and dirty!)
    • If you travel between late October and February, don't forget some warm clothes for the evening - it can get pretty cool from time to time at night in the mountains, and a warm sweater/fleece is good to bring along.
    • The trekking does not require hiking boots, although the trails can be muddy and slippery during the rainy season (approximately July to late October)
  • Sunglasses
  • Money to spend
    • This is always difficult to assess, but you need to budget for 7 lunches and 5 dinners during the trip. Lunches on the road will cost between 10 and 20 kr., and dinners can vary greatly depending on where you eat, but would usually cost between 20 and 60 kr. In addition, there are probably other pleasures you would like to sweeten the trip with, a typical spend of 11 days is usually 1500-2000 DKK.
    • There are ATMs spread out over the route of the journey, so you don't have to bring your expected spend in cash from day 1.
