Sardines Skewers workshop in Málaga beach

Description

The relationship between maritime culture and the city of Malaga

The sailor on land: ships and nets. Master class on the preparation and traditional cuisine of Espetos de sardinas. An activity where we can learn the art of the “espeto”, rooted in the coast of Malaga for centuries. We will visit the fishermen´s quarter par excellence of Malaga, as well as a craft workshop of the typical boats called “jábegas”.

The visit begins at the artisanal shipyards, a place with special protection from UNESCO and one of the few historic shipyards that exist in Spain. Inside we can discover how the traditional "jabega" are built, boats of Phoenician origin, as well as historic boats in restoration.

We continue the visit through the seaside neighborhood of Pedregalejo, walking through its narrow streets and its unique appearance.

We finish the visit with a show cooking of "espetos", a traditional way of cooking fish that has been maintained over the centuries. We will learn how to "espetar" and enjoy a fish tasting with a drink.
