Reykjanes Volcano Area - Helicopter Tour from Reykjavik - with landing

Description
Take off from Reykjavík and fly toward the Reykjanes Peninsula, where you'll explore the site of Iceland’s most recent volcanic activity. This aerial tour takes you over the extensive eruption site from 2021 to our present day. Seeing this raw natural wonder from above is truly unforgettable—and an experience you shouldn’t miss while in Iceland.
The volcanic activity on the Reykjanes Peninsula began anew on March 19, 2021, after centuries of dormancy, with an eruption that lasted six months. This event created a vast lava plateau and several craters, following more than 50,000 earthquakes in the area. It marked the first eruption on the peninsula since the 14th century.
Activity resumed on August 3, 2022, when a new crater opened and more lava flowed into the growing plateau. The third eruption began on July 10, 2023, continuing to shape the volcanic landscape.
A significant eruption began on December 18, 2023, at Sundhnúkahraun—stronger than previous ones in this series. Though short-lived (lasting just three days), it signaled a new phase of recurring eruptions in the area:
· January 14, 2024 – A two-day eruption
· February 8, 2024 – Third Sundhnúkahraun eruption
· March 16, 2024 – Fourth eruption
· May 29, 2024 – Fifth eruption
· November 20, 2024 – The sixth and most recent eruption adds yet another layer to this evolving volcanic system.
This tour gives you a bird’s-eye view of the entire eruption zone, including its vibrant colors, massive lava fields, and dramatic craters. When there is no ongoing eruption, the tour also includes a landing near the eruption site, allowing you to walk on recently cooled lava and experience the volcanic terrain up close.
The total duration of the tour is approximately 45–70 minutes. Please note: the landing is only possible when there is no active eruption and is subject to weather and safety conditions.
Included
One landing next to the lava field when there is no active eruption and it's deemed safe by your pilot.
