From Córdoba: White Villages of Cordoba private day trip

Description

The Subbética region is an essential tourist destination for those who wish to discover the true essence of Andalusia. With an area of 1,597 km2, this region is located in the heart of Andalusia. One of the main attractions of the Subbética is its natural beauty. As a Natural Park of Andalusia, the region has a great wealth of landscapes and ecology that makes it a true paradise for nature lovers. It is also a place that treasures a historical and cultural heritage of incalculable value.

The region has numerous archaeological remains that show the wealth and cultural diversity of the area, as well as a large number of monuments and buildings in the Baroque style that testify to the importance and splendour of the region in times past. After leaving Córdoba, we move through the Subbética to visit some of the main towns in this beautiful region. Our first stop will be Priego de Córdoba, capital of the Subbética and a reference point for Cordoban Baroque. We will visit the old Muslim quarter, crossing narrow streets and white squares, touring the famous balcony of the Adarve, an idyllic place to relax and contemplate a panoramic view of the region.

We continue with a visit to the Fuente del Rey. 139 pipes flow from this fountain, many of them with stone masks with ghostly faces. Declared a National MonumentIn the same area as the Fuente del Rey is the Fuente de la Salud. Legend has it that this was the place where Alfonso XI set up his camp. Its origin was due to the need to channel the spring that supplies the population. It was built by Francisco del Castillo in the 16th century. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant to enjoy Cordoban cuisine.

After lunch, we move to Carcabuey to visit the town's castle. The Carcabuey castle has been throughout history a privileged place from a strategic and military point of view for the control of all the communication routes of the Subbética region, since the roads that served as communication between five Andalusian provinces converged there. Inside it also houses the hermitage of the Virgen del Castillo.

We return to Córdoba stopping at the Araceli hermitage, a special, mythical place. Where legend tells us that Noah's Ark, after the flood, ended up in this place. Hence, intrinsically, the name of Araceli, Ararat. Lucena is, along with Toledo and Córdoba, the most important places of the Jewish cultural and architectural legacy.
