Albayzin & Sacromonte neighborhood private tour

Description

We will head to the Sacromonte neighborhood where you can enjoy an enthralling view of Granada and the Alhambra. Home to the gypsies of Granada, the Sacromonte is a picturesque and idyllic place on the outskirts of Granada’s city center. After wandering through Europe and Africa from India, they arrived in Spain in the fifteenth century.

Traditionally, they lived in the well-known cave-houses of this neighborhood, portrayed with great mastery in the book Romancero Gitano by the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca.Afterwards, we will visit the old Muslim quarter. The Albayzín retains the urban style of the Nasrid period: narrow streets going down from San Nicolás, its highest area, to the course of the Darro River.

We will admire the peculiar houses of the neighborhood called “Cármenes“, built in alleyways full of reservoirs where the water of the area was channeled and distributed. Great views of the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada from this neighborhood, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
