The Alhambra has something special. Its location, its dimensions, its architecture, its history... Its strategic location on the al-Sabika hill, facing the Albaicín and with the Sierra Nevada in the background, makes the Alhambra an unavoidable part of the landscape and history of Granada.
The Alhambra, considered the eighth wonder of the world, means “red castle” and is an unprecedented Arab citadel, palace and fortress. We begin the visit with the transfer from your hotel or apartment, upon arrival, we begin with the extensive visit of the monumental complex. We visited the Generalife Palace, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, it is the palace used by Muslim kings as a resting place. Next to the palace, we tour its beautiful Gardens where water is the fundamental protagonist in the entire environment.
We continue the visit to the Palace of Charles V. Charles V, King of Spain and Emperor-elect of Germany, decided to build his Royal Palace in the Alhambra, after the visit he made to Granada after his wedding in Seville with Isabel of Portugal in 1526. Its implementation, despite its design and formal quality, changed the image of the venue, altering its interior fabric and connection with the city.
The decision to locate the Palace in the Alhambra symbolized the triumph of Christianity over Islam. The culmination of the visit will be the Nasrid Palaces, of unparalleled beauty. It is a palace complex, residence of the kings of Granada. The founder of the dynasty, Alhamar, began to build it in the 13th century, although the buildings that have survived to this day date mainly from the 14th century.
These palaces enclose within their walls the refinement and delicacy of the last Spanish-Arab governors of Al Andalus, the Nasrids.Three palaces form this enclosure: El Mexuar, El Palacio de Comares, or Yusuf I, and the Palace of the Lions, or Mohammed V.
