Aurora Sky Point - Northern Lights and Nordic Sauna

Experience the magnificent Northern lights and Arctic mountains from the Aurora Sky Point. You will arrive in the peaceful mountainside at the Aurora Hut where a bonfire will set the perfect atmosphere for your night. The Aurora Hut is located 360 meters above sea level, far away from the city light pollution. Your guide will explain the phenomenon of the northern lights and during the experience you will hear local stories and legends of the northern lights. Our traditional Nordic Sauna is heated up prior to your arrival and ready to use.

Spend some time in the steamy Sauna, relax, and enjoy the heat. If you feel the need to cool down, you are welcome to try the classic “snow roll” in the powdery snow outside the Aurora Hut! When it’s time, we move outdoors for the best chance to see the Northern Lights. Our Aurora Hut has windows in the ceiling, so you can observe the northern lights even if you need to step inside to keep warm. On the bonfire we make traditional grilled cheese sandwiches, even some with Norwegian brown cheese! Stay warm with the traditional hot drink “gløgg”, filled with classic winter spices.

The Aurora Sky Point will maximize your chances of observing the Northern Lights! The stable winter climate in the inland creates excellent conditions for Northern Lights observations. Most winter days have sub-zero temperatures and clear skies. The area is free from light pollution and has clear views towars the northern skies.

The Northern Lights are considered a natural phenomenon which means we cannot guarantee that you will experience northern lights. However, we promise to do our best to make the experience unforgettable, even without the presence of the “green lady”.

In our Northern Lights and Sauna experience we use reusable cutlery, plastic free food packaging, and clean wood for our fireplaces. We make sure our only footprints are left in the snow.

This tour is organized in the period September 1st and April 15th the following year.

Duration: 3 hours

Level: Easy to intermediate. We do not walk far, but the terrain we hike through is rough and we move off the beaten path by foot or on snowshoes. All participants must be in a normal fit physical condition.

You will need good hiking shoes, made to hike in rough terrain.
