Guided Snowshoe Hike to Norway's National Waterfall

Description

Join us for a showshoe walk in our winter wonderland in the heart of the Bardufoss Region. We walk towards the magnificent Målselvfossen, Norway’s national waterfalls, where we make a campfire. Enjoy the view of the frozen waterfalls while we prepare traditional Norwegian hotdogs over the fire. Our guide will share their knowledge of the Arctic wilderness, the importance of the local salmon, and tell you the story of how the Målselv Waterfall was created 10.000 years ago.

You start your experience at Høgtun where you will meet your guide for snowshoe fitting. We drive out to the forests surrounding the waterfalls where we park the car and buckle our snowshoes on and start hiking towards Målselvfossen. The hike takes about 30 minutes, maybe more if there is a lot of fresh powdery snow. When we arrive at the waterfalls your guide will light a campfire while you get to see the waterfall up close (we always keep a safe distance!). On the campfire we prepare traditional Norwegian hotdogs with bread and typical condiments.

This experience requires the participant to be in normal physical condition. Most people take snowshoes easily! Your guide will show you how to buckle the snowshoes securely onto your boots. If you wish to step away from the tracks, you can break your own trail and enjoy the unspoiled wilderness for a while!

This tour is organized in the period November 1st and April 30th the following year.

Book your snowshoe adventure 24 hours before arrival.

Please note that we require a minimum of two participants for this experience to be organized.
