Description
Stórurð is a protected nature reserve in the mountains surrounding the stunning Borgarfjörður eystri. Long known by locals as a diamond among diamonds, the rock formations left behind by the receding glacier are larger than life, with towering boulders piled up into a maze-like structure. During winter and into late spring, this natural maze is covered in deep snow which makes travel on foot very difficult.
Enjoy a much nicer hike to this natural wonder on snowshoes with Fjord Bikes. We make the walk enjoyable with an expert local guide, snowshoes and specialized walking poles included. During the hike you'll be captivated by the mythology of the area, enjoy both intimate views and sweeping vistas, and get (safely) lost among the towering giants of Stórurð.

Know before you go
It is important to bring winter clothing for this tour. Any participants not dressed for the weather on the day of travel may be barred from joining without a refund!
