PRI-PV-ES Guided tour to Holyrood Castle - Spanish Tour Guide - Private Tour

Description

Where does Isabel II live in Edinburgh? How is the Palace of Holyrood? The main dining room, the throne room or the rooms of María Estuardo will allow us to know how kings and queens live and lived. In addition, the exterior of the palace, along with its abbey and gardens, are other attractions of this visit.

During this experience, you can also enjoy the history of its numerous and successive constructions, demolitions and reconstructions. All of them will guide us through the turbulent history of Scotland that has been reflected in the walls, towers, roofs, tapestries and halls of this illustrious monument.

The Palace of Holyrood, home of the majority of kings and queens of Scotland, does not serve as such only in our days but has been since the fifteenth century. Currently, the palace is rather intended for meetings of state affairs and recreational place of the monarchy.

The royal apartments are used for Queen Elizabeth II, who stays at the palace for at least one week at the beginning of each summer along with other members of royalty, for official ceremonies and for entertainment during the so-called "Holyrood Week", moment in which the queen carries out a whole series of ceremonies that aim to celebrate the culture, memory and exploits harvested throughout the history of Scotland. The most important event of this festival is celebrated, precisely, on the day of its rupture, which is given the name of "Garden Party".

* Because the Palace of Holyrood is a private residence of British royalty, Queen Elizabeth and her family can visit without prior notice. Therefore, the palace could be closed to the public. If you have a reservation for that day, Viajarporescocia.com would look for an alternative date or refund the price of the tour.

Detailed description of the Guided Visit to the Palace of Holyrood

From our meeting point (190 High Street) we will go to the palace, passing through the most unknown area for tourists of this noble street: the section of Canongate.

You will also discover on this visit one of the most famous abbeys that remain in Scotland, which gives its name to the entire Palace of Holyrood and is erected in its romantic appearance, almost completely in ruins. In the interior of the palace we will make a tour of the main rooms. In the royal apartments of Mary Stuart we can see the luxury of the monarchy and also the complicated political and personal situation of the Queen of Scotland.

The Great Staircase, built in the 17th century in the Baroque style, will give access to the great halls. The decoration of the roof will not go unnoticed as they represent the Honors of Scotland, guarded at Edinburgh Castle.

The largest room we will find in the palace will be the Grand Gallery, a huge, long room that connects the king's apartments with those of the queen. This room is also decorated with more than 100 portraits of the Scottish monarchs, starting with the mythological Fergus I, dating from the fourth century BC, until today.

Finally, we will contemplate the beauty of its gardens of 4 hectares, with the hill of Arthur's Seat as a backdrop.

Edinburgh Castle is the complementary attraction to this visit. Discover it with our Guided Visit to Edinburgh Castle.
