Óttarsstaðir Ocean Diver Tour

Description
On this Ocean Diver tour you will dive through kelp forests and visit a lot of marine wildlife such as fish, sea urchins and starfish in the captivating underwater world of Óttarsstaðir, one of Iceland's best-kept secrets for divers.
Óttarsstaðir is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and fascinating geological formations shaped by Iceland's volcanic heritage. Divers are treated to an array of colorful seaweeds, delicate anemones, and schools of fish weaving through the kelp forests. The rocky seabed tells a story of ancient lava flows, offering striking underwater topography perfect for exploration.
Divers and conservationists have contributed to enhancing marine life by introducing artificial structures and installations designed to create habitats and encourage biodiversity. You will encounter many types of fish and invertebrates, such as wolf fish, crabs, sea urchins and starfish to name a few. There is also a kelp forest to explore.
Your guide will pick you up and drop you off at your location in Reykjavík. During the one-hour drive, your guide will provide you with background information about the unique geology and cultural history of Iceland.
The start time of this tour depends on the tides. We usually want to end our dive around the peak of the high tide.
Note that ocean dives in Iceland depend on the weather and it can happen that scheduled ocean dive trips have to be canceled due to unfortunate weather conditions.
If that is the case we usually have a plan B and can offer you other dive sites, such as Bjarnagjá, Kleifarvatn or Silfra that do not depend on the weather as much as the ocean.
All divers on this Ocean Diver Tour must have dry suit diving certification OR 10 logged dry suit dives within two years of the tour date. These 10 dives must be confirmed with written proof signed by a diving instructor.
