Private Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon Tour

Description

Join us on a private bespoke Golden Circle tour in a luxury vehicle!

The Golden Circle includes some of Iceland's most popular tourist sightseeing spots.

It's not only because they are close to the country's capital but also because they are stunningly beautiful, full of history, and have fantastic geology.

The traditional Golden Circle includes Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall.

During this tour, you can also walk around Kerið Crater and soak in the iconic Blue Lagoon, renowned for its mineral-rich geothermal waters.

Pick up from your hotel in Reykjavik

We will pick you up from your hotel in Reykjavik at 9 AM.

Þingvellir National Park (1 hour)

The historical site of Þingvellir is important to Icelanders. It is where Alþingi, the world's oldest Parliament, was founded in 930. It is also one of few places in Iceland (and the world) where you can see the mid-Atlantic ridge above ground.

Walk through the Almannagjá tectonic rift, pass the site of the first parliament, Althing, and enjoy Öxaráfoss waterfall, take in the beautiful scenery, see where Game of Thrones was shot, visit Iceland's largest lake, Þingvallavatn Lake and even dive between the continents in the Silfra River.

Þingvellir National Park is also where Icelanders converted to Christianity. In 2004, Þingvellir became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. That means it has cultural, historical, scientific, or other forms of significance, which Þingvellir indeed has.

Geysir Geothermal Area (45 minutes)

Bubbling hot water and erupting geysers are what to expect in the Geysir geothermal area. The word "geyser" comes from the now mostly dormant Geysir, but the site is named after it. Geysir would hurl boiling water and erupt almost 70 m (230 ft) into the air, but it has been years since it erupted last. It used to erupt regularly but stopped after a series of earthquakes.

Instead, you can see its brother Strokkur erupt every few minutes. It isn't as large as Geysir, but its eruptions can reach up to 30 m (98 ft)!

Gullfoss Waterfall & lunchtime (1 hour 30 minutes)

Gullfoss is one of Iceland's most famous and spectacular waterfalls. It is far from the largest, but it is a three-step waterfall that falls into a 64-meter-deep canyon. Due to the curve of the canyon right where it falls and the spray from the waterfall, it can be nearly impossible to see the bottom. It thus sometimes looks as if it falls into an abyss.

Early in the 20th century, there were ideas about harnessing the waterfall's power to generate electricity. The landowner's daughter, Sólveig Tómasdóttir, was fiercely against it and a pioneer environmentalist. She threatened to throw herself into the waterfall if the plans went ahead, and in the end, her father listened to her, and we are ever so grateful for her!

Please note that food is not included in the tour's price.

Kerið Crater (30 minutes)

Kerið Crater is a part of the larger Western Volcanic Zone - it was formed around 3,000 years ago during a volcanic eruption, leaving behind a massive caldera with a depth of about 55 meters (180 feet) and a diameter of approximately 270 meters (890 feet).

What makes Kerið so unique and captivating is the vivid colors of the rocks and surrounding vegetation. The slopes of the crater display vibrant shades of red, russet, and deep browns, creating a picturesque contrast against the azure blue water that has collected at the bottom. The changing colors of the surrounding vegetation throughout the seasons further accentuate the ever-evolving nature of this unique geological site.

Kerið is also home to a rich ecosystem, with various plant species finding a niche within its volcanic walls. Mosses, lichens, and hardy grasses cling to the rocks, creating a burst of green amidst the barren, rocky landscape.

Visitors to Kerið can walk around the crater's perimeter, marveling at the picturesque scenery from various viewpoints.

Blue Lagoon (2 hours) - 6 PM entrance

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal SPA in southwestern Iceland. It is located in a lava field 5 km from Grindavík and in front of Mount Þorbjörn on the Reykjanes Peninsula, in a place favorable for geothermal power, and is supplied by water used in the nearby Svartsengi Geothermal Power Station.

Named one of 25 wonders of the world by National Geographic in 2012, the Blue Lagoon was honored for its unique geothermal seawater. Found nowhere else on earth, this renowned resource is rich in silica, algae, and minerals - the elements that give the lagoon its skin-nourishing powers.

With a sauna, steam room, steam cave, mask bar, massage waterfall, and an in-water beverage bar, the lagoon is rich with possibilities for a uniquely unforgettable adventure.

The Blue Lagoon Comfort admission includes:
