From Tromsø: Early morning Wild Moose Safari

Meet the king of the forest in the Arctic: the Wild Moose! The Bardufoss region has a large population of Europe's  largest land animals and your guide will take you out for a safari adventure to go looking for these fascinating animals. Lunch is included!

Your guide will meet you at Buktamoen bus stop and transport you to Rundhaug Gjestegård, a historic wood hotel on the doorstep to the wilderness. Before we head out to look for the moose, your guide will give you an interesting insight to the moose, the local culture, and tell you about moose hunting. We drive to the locations where we are most likely to see these gentle giants, but we stay in respectful distance of the moose and make sure not to disturb them. 

During the safari your guide will take you out in the forest to look for moose tracks and show you an authentic Hunter's Hut. Lunch will be served outdoors if the weather allows it! And if you're lucky you can observe a variety of other wild arctic animals on our safari. Please note that we can not guarantee observations of the wild moose as it is considered a natural phenomena - this is part of the excitement of the wild moose safari!

The inland climate of the Bardufoss region provide calm and clear weather most of the winter season, which provides optimal conditions for Wild Moose Safari. The area has a very large population of moose, and in the winter season we experience endless encounters with these fascinating giants in the beautiful landscapes of the Målselv Valley.

INFORMATION ABOUT BUS TRANSPORT
Your bus is called "100 Narvik" and departs at 06:20am from Prostneset bus terminal in Tromsø. 
Bus ticket is NOT included in your booking, and must be purchased when boarding the bus or in the Svipper app.
Return from Buktamoen is at 12:30pm, arrival in Tromsø is 14:25.

Pick-up and drop-off at Buktamoen is included in your booking.

This tour is organized in the period between October 1st and April 30th the following year. It is available Monday to Friday every week.

Please note that we require a minimum of two participants for the Wild Moose Safari to be organized.

Duration: 4 hours and 20 minutes

Level: Easy to intermediate. We do not walk far, but the terrain we hike through is rough and we move off the beaten path by foot or on snowshoes. All participants must be in a normal fit physical condition.

You will need good hiking shoes, made to hike in rough terrain.
