The IOWA Experience + President's Tour

Description

Walk in the Footsteps of Presidents on the Battleship of Presidents

Step aboard the Battleship IOWA, where history was made and the course of World War II was shaped. In November 1943, the Battleship IOWA carried President Franklin D. Roosevelt across the Atlantic on a top-secret mission to the Casablanca and Tehran Conferences—pivotal meetings that set the stage for the war’s outcome. During this journey, the ship endured a near-disastrous friendly fire incident and became the only U.S. Navy vessel in history where the crew was "arrested" and then officially pardoned by a sitting President.

This exclusive guided tour offers a rare glimpse into areas not accessible on the standard self-guided route. Visit the famous Captain's Cabin, featuring the only bathtub still in existence on a Navy warship installed for a sitting U.S. president. Stand where history was made as you discover epic tales of diplomacy, a dangerous moment when FDR's life was at risk, and much more in this unforgettable snapshot of life aboard one of America’s most iconic ships.

Your tour also includes full access to the IOWA Experience, where you can explore five decks of interactive exhibits, hear sailor stories, and participate in the family-friendly Vicky the Dog scavenger hunt.

Due to limited tour availability, advance reservations are required. Accessible routes are available upon request.
