FULL DAY • RANO RARAKU - AHU TONGARIKI - ANAKENA -  ORONGO - RANO KAU  - AHU A’KIVI

Start your tour by visiting Rano Raraku quarry, where you can see nearly 400 moai scattered throughout the rim in various stages of completion. Right after visiting Ahu Tongariki largest platform from all of the reconstructed on the island. This altar has fifteen visible standing statues overlooking the island with their backs to the Pacific Ocean. Stop by  Anakena, the beautiful beach that is believed to be the landing place of Hotu Matu'a, the first king who is thought to have discovered the island. Visit O'rongo village place where was celebrated the Birdman ceremony. It also has a visitor reception center with a permanent interpretive exhibition. Before heading back to Hanga Roa pier we will visit Rano Kau, a vibrant volcano with a freshwater lake in its crater, and Ahu A’kivi one of the very few 7 restored moai ceremonial platforms not located by the sea with astronomical positioning guidance, and look towards the setting sun.

• Sun rises behind the platform during summertime (October to March) and from Poike volcano during the rest of the year.
• There are more chances of unclear skies during wintertime.
