Small group Chianti and Castles tour from Siena

Admire the marvellous Chianti wine region and its majestic castles. Beginning beneath the Castello di Brolio walls, we can photograph and experience first-hand the myriad of vineyards. This is the place where Baron Bettino Ricasoli initially began the rejuvenation of this region’s agricultural cultivation and gifted the world with the prized formulation for the production of Chianti wines, internationally recognized for its ease on the palate, and where straw flasks have now become a thing of the past. Stopping at our first Chianti winemaking estate of the day, we explore the cellars and winery before sampling an introductory tasting of the famed Chianti wines. We carry on to a tiny, fortified, picturesque medieval village which rests on a hilltop and is privy to the most glorious views. Sip on a coffee at one of the local bars or meander through cobblestoned roads and take in the architectural designs and scenic horizons of green forests and wineries. Enjoy a lunch of traditional Tuscan fare at a farm or a castle, which will be served with a sampling of local wines. It happens that sometimes a particular farm is inaccessible, and for that reason we will make the most of our customary Tuscan meal at a pastoral traditional Trattoria. Much later during the afternoon, at our second winery, we meet the local winemaker and tour around a centuries-old family winemaking estate. Delve into old cellars, discover the conventions and way of life of Chianti people and stroll through the landscape relishing and finding out about the famed Chianti wines. Occasionally, because of accessibility or a spur of the moment change of plans, the day’s agenda may differ slightly. If such a situation does arise, the excursion will be somewhat adjusted. Nevertheless, the tour will remain much the same, unchanged in timeframe and will include equivalent considerations.
