The route to the white-eyed moai - Group Tour

Description

Start your day with a visit to the Puna Pau quarry, where Moai headdresses (Pukao) were carved from red scoria. From here, enjoy a beautiful view of Hangaroa and see massive headdresses weighing several tons.

Next, we head to Ahu Akivi, an archaeological site with seven Moai facing the sea. This platform is an astronomical wonder, perfectly aligned to the sunset during the vernal equinox and turning its back at sunrise during the autumnal equinox.

Finally, we visit the Tahai Ceremonial Center, home to three restored platforms: Ahu Tahai, Ahu Vai Uri, and Ahu Ko te Riku. Ahu Ko te Riku is the only Moai on the island that features symbolic eyes. Explore other curiosities such as a stone chicken coop, a house boat, and a stone jetty.
