＜Highlights＞

・Sumiyoshi Shrine

Donated by Kitamae ship merchants, the beautifully crafted stone walls and approximately 5m tall lanterns. There are remains of a power stone where the night watchmen and strong Okinawa middlemen once competed in lifting contests. Visitors pray here before boarding.

・Jodo Temple

The main hall and pagoda within the temple grounds are designated national treasures. From Mount Jodoji behind, at an elevation of 178.5m, you can admire the panoramic view of the esoteric Shingon Buddhist practice site with numerous giant rocks leading to the Jodo Temple's inner sanctuary.

・Onomichi Bridge/Shin-Onomichi Bridge

Japan's first cable-stayed bridge. A valuable bridge that pioneered the construction of cable-stayed bridges across Japan.

The Shin-Onomichi Bridge is the first in the country to experimentally adopt a dehumidification system that circulates dry air instead of painting for anti-corrosion treatment on the inside of the box girder. Both bridges mark a solid step towards further advancement in bridge engineering technology.

・Beautiful Islands of Seto Inland Sea

After passing through the Onomichi Strait, you can overlook numerous islands in the Seto Inland Sea.

If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the Shikoku mountain range and even encounter a "sunameri" phenomenon.

・High-Speed Tornado Turn
Experience the high-speed turn where RIB speedboats undergo purification in the sea breeze

・Itsukijima Shrine

The grand torii gate and stone lanterns that can be visited from the sea are worth seeing.

Itsukushima Daimyojin is a deity encompassing three gods: a goddess, her husband, and their child. Visit for safety at sea as well as blessings for marriage and children.
