Description
U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere represented a pinnacle in concert innovation, a multi-sensory experience U2 delivered at the Sphere in Las Vegas, a venue seemingly from the future. The residency, spanning 40 nights between September 29, 2023, and March 2, 2024, was conceived as a celebration and live deconstruction of 'Achtung Baby,' the 1991 album that marked a radical turning point in the Irish band's career, introducing industrial and electronic influences. The promise of performing 'Achtung Baby' in its entirety, along with a dynamic repertoire including other classics and the new single 'Atomic City,' drew fans from around the globe. The Sphere, with its 160,000-square-foot, 16K resolution internal LED screen and an immersive audio system with over 160,000 speakers, allowed U2 and their creative team, including Willie Williams and Es Devlin, to take visual storytelling and emotional connection to an unprecedented level. The stage, shaped like a turntable, was a nod to Brian Eno. Every element, from kaleidoscopic visuals to crystal-clear sound, was designed to immerse the audience in U2's music and message. Acquiring tickets for this limited tour meant securing a place at an event that fused the power of a rock concert with the grandeur of visual art and state-of-the-art technology, creating a truly unique and transformative live experience. Critics acclaimed the residency as a landmark, highlighting how U2 continued to push the boundaries of what's possible in live entertainment.
