Aspö is a small village on the aspö island. The village is known for its white limestonechurch that has a red brick roof. The commercially seafaring Vikings landed on Aspö duringthe Viking Age, 800-1050 AD. During World War I until 1917, Aspö served as Russiannäval military watchpost. in the 1940s it was used as a harbour for submarines and 1944 itserved as the German navy base.
To the south of the island Björkö lies a natural harbour of Byviken, which is the mostpopular natural harbour in the southern archipelago. Next to the harbour is a deep, clear-water inland lake, Insjön, which has a area of 10.5 hectares. The lake was formed about 250 years ago when the land rose. Björkö islandi s particularlycknown for this rarity.
Café Björkö is a cute, small summer café in the heart of the archipelago, in the island of Björkö. At Café Björkö you can feel the authentic atmosphere of the old days and thearchipelago culture.
