Tripadvisor Reviews    This is a small group tour of max 5 people.

Join us on a deeply moving and insightful tour, "Fire and Ashes: Rituals of Pashupatinath," to explore the sacred practices, beliefs, and rituals of Hinduism at one of its holiest sites.

Our journey begins at the historic Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most significant temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. We’ll start with an introduction to Hinduism, its philosophy, and the Trinity Gods—Brahma (Creator), Vishnu (Preserver), and Shiva (Destroyer), emphasizing Shiva's role as the deity of transformation. You’ll also learn about Sadhus, the ascetic holy men, and their spiritual connection to Lord Shiva.

Next, we’ll visit the cremation ghats by the banks of the Bagmati River, the lifeline of the Kathmandu Valley and a holy river in Hinduism. Witness the last rites of Hindu cremation, performed in the open air with fire as the purifying element, and learn about the profound cultural and spiritual significance of these rituals. As we walk along the river, we’ll explore the 16 sacred Samskaras (life rituals) and focus on the customs observed after death in Hindu culture.

We’ll then explore the temples, shrines, and idols scattered across the Pashupatinath complex, understanding their importance to devotees. The tour concludes with the mesmerizing Aarati Ceremony, where oil lamps and prayers are offered to Lord Shiva. The enchanting chants, music, and light offerings will provide a spiritual crescendo to your experience.

This tour offers an unforgettable dive into Nepal’s rich spiritual traditions and cultural heritage.
