Baking with a View: Focaccia and Sweet Traditions in Chianti

Description

Join Chef Sara in her charming home nestled in the rolling Chianti hills, just 15 km from Florence, for a delicious, hands-on Italian baking experience. Surrounded by olive trees and stunning views, you’ll learn the art of making authentic Tuscan focaccia and schiacciata while enjoying the peaceful beauty of the countryside.

You’ll discover the difference between various types of flour, fresh yeast, dry yeast, and sourdough starter, and prepare two different doughs from scratch. Then, we’ll make three types of focaccia: the classic plain version, a hearty one with sausage and pecorino cheese, and a seasonal vegetarian version using fresh local ingredients.

During the grape harvest season (September), we’ll switch one version for the traditional schiacciata con l’uva—a sweet, rustic focaccia that’s been made in Tuscany for generations.

While the focaccias are baking, we’ll prepare a rich, creamy tiramisù following Nonna Eliana’s traditional recipe. Vegan menu options are available upon request.

The experience takes place in Sara’s lovely garden, the perfect spot to watch the sunset while enjoying your creations. Dogs are welcome and will be in good company with Tosca, Sara’s playful setter. Animal lovers will be happy to know there's also a friendly German Shepherd who enjoys greeting guests and playing in the garden.

Come hungry—and leave with full hearts, full bellies, and authentic Italian recipes to cherish forever.
