The city of 50 mosques: day tour to Prizren

Description

The tour starts at 8:00 am after hotel pickup to head towards the Morina border. Along the way, you will be able to spot the differences in rural life in Albania.

The imprints of the communist regime and of the former industrial cities built during that period are still vivid. Once in Prizren the first attraction to visit is the fortress. Also known as the "Corona di Prizren", it was also the area of some of the ancient settlements of the old city. It offers a wonderful and picturesque view of the city, where numerous mosques and minarets merge with churches, houses and Turkish baths.

Located in the heart of the city, the Sinan Pasha Mosque is the largest and most visited mosque in the city. Still functional today, this mosque will amaze you with the elegant decor and the exclusive square shape of the main building. Built in the early 18th century, this mosque has been restored and preserved as one of the city's greatest religious and cultural values.

Visit to the League house and the Ethnographic Museum and the Church of San Ljevi. Closed for renovation, this 14th century church is unique in style and values. Now protected by UNESCO, it was severely damaged in 2004.

Free time for lunch or shopping in traditional shops and souvenir kiosks and then leave for the return to Tirana.
