Savor cherry blossoms the Japanese have cherished for generations! This tour provides a perfect opportunity to view illuminated cherry blossoms in various backdrops.
【Azuma-bashi Bridge】5:00 – 5:20
The area around this bridge in Asakusa is a fascinating spot where traditional and modern elements blend seamlessly. What you can see and breathe, each of which the guide will delve into, include historic significance of the bridge itself, Tokyo Skytree, Asahi Beer, Sumida River cruises, cherry blossoms, and much more.
【Sumida Park (South): Asakusa side】5:20 – 5:40
As we are taking an overview of cherry blossoms along the river, the guide will touch upon history of flower viewing in Japan, how deeply the practice is rooted in the society, the cherry species widely planted across Japan. Something spectacular we also see is Japanese roofed boats on the river with tatami room for cherry blossom viewing.
【Sumida River Walk】5:40 – 6:00
Sumida River Walk is a pedestrian bridge that connects Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree Town across the Sumida River. It provides a scenic walking route with great views of the river, Tokyo Skytree, and the historic Asakusa area.
It is known as a great spot for photography, especially at sunrise, sunset, and night when the city lights reflect on the river. Enjoy a romantic and peaceful evening stroll with a beautifully lit cityscape.
【Sumida Park (North): Sumida side】6:00 – 6:20
The riverside that stretches from the foot of the River Walk bridge to the north creates a picturesque tunnel of pink blossoms. The trees are lit up at night, creating a magical evening cherry blossom experience. The park offers unobstructed views of the Tokyo Skytree, perfect for photography; the contrast between the blossoms and the Tokyo Skytree in the background creates a breathtaking view. Nearby is the former site of a feudal lord’s residence, adding historical value.
All in all, the wonderfully lit up blossoms, the Tokyo Skytree, and the historical site create a wonderful scenary.
【Imado Jinja Shrine and San'ya-bori square】6:20 – 6:40
1) Imado Jinja Shrine
The shrine is a hidden gem in Asakusa, famous for its powerful matchmaking blessings and as the birthplace of the beckoning cat. During the cherry blossom season, the delicate pink petals contrast beautifully with the shrine's traditional architecture and vivid torii gates. The beckoning cat statues scattered around the shrine make for unique and picturesque photo opportunities.
2) San'ya-bori Square
Walking through the square feels like stepping into a quieter, lesser-known historical part of Asakusa. The cherry trees in and around the square bloom beautifully in spring, offering a calm, local experience away from crowds.
【Sumida Park (North): Asakusa side】6:40 – 7:00
We will enjoy the beauty of a well-known weeping cherry tree. This species, different from the prevalent pedigree, is one of the most elegant and visually striking cherry tree varieties. Marvel at their graceful, cascading branches and delicate pink blossoms. The contrast of bright blossoms against darker, twisting branches enhances their visual impact.
At the end of the tour, the guide will direct you to a dinner restaurant according to your preference.
