Things to in Iceland

We start the day by picking you up at your accommodation in Reykjavik in our modified super jeep. We will drive you towards Hvalfjordur Fjord on our way to Borgarfjordur, where we will visit Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring.

After that, we drive further inland to Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls and on to Husafell woodlands, where we will make a short stop for lunch (not included).

After Husafell, we will take you off the main road and take the highland trail to Iceland’s second-largest ice field, Langjokull Glacier. Now, it is time to put our super jeep to the test by driving on the glacier.

If the conditions allow, on the way back to Reykjavik, we will take you over the highest mountain road in Iceland, the “cold Valley” or Kaldidalur. This will lead us back down to Thingvellir National Park, one of the most beautiful and historical places in Iceland.  (Note: This road is open only during summer or when conditions allow. In case of a road closure, we will adjust the route accordingly and skip this section and Thingvellir National Park)

If you want to take the tour up a notch, you can add an entry to the amazing Into the Glacier ice tunnel on Langjökull glacier. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the magnificent glacier landscape from the inside out with an expert guide.

Morning Pickup and Departure

Start your unforgettable journey with a convenient morning pickup from your accommodation. We’ll head out along Iceland’s picturesque South Coast, offering breathtaking views and the opportunity to glimpse iconic landscapes. As we leave civilization behind, we’ll make stops at some beautiful hidden gems and lesser-known waterfalls, such as the serene Hjalpárfoss, and the breathtaking Sigöldugljúfur canyon.

Scenic Journey to Landmannalaugar

We’ll venture into Europe’s largest true wilderness area, a pristine and barren tundra, historically treacherous and far from the crowds. We navigate the rugged mountain roads, truly showcasing the capabilities of our super jeep. This part of the journey is as thrilling as it is scenic, with volcanic deserts and vast, uninhabited landscapes stretching out before us. The area’s history is rich, with many stories of early settlers and their perilous journeys across these lands. Our local guides are always ready to share anecdotes and historical insights, enhancing your experience with fascinating tales.

Exploring Landmannalaugar

Upon arrival at Landmannalaugar, prepare to be amazed by the stunning scenery. During the summer months, the multicolored rhyolite mountains create a vibrant tapestry of yellow, red, fluorescent green, purple, brown, black, and white. This area is perfect for shorter hikes that provide spectacular views of volcanic deserts, rugged lava fields, inactive explosion craters, and waterfalls.

In winter, Landmannalaugar transforms into a magical snowy wonderland. The deep snow adds a serene and enchanting quality to the landscape. Access to this remote area becomes challenging, making the super jeep tour an essential and thrilling way to reach these hidden sights.
