Day 1: TAMBOLAKA AIRPORT – WATUMALANDONG – BWANNA BEACH (L, D)

Upon arrival at the airport of Tambolaka in Waitabula, you will be picked up by our tour guide and we will begin the journey. We will drive for 1,5 hours to visit the secret beach of Watumalandong and Bwanna where you can see the beautiful view of both beaches from one point. The beach of Bwanna is a long clear colorful sand beach under the majestic cliff heading to the Indian Ocean makes this place extraordinary. Whilst its beauty is unquestionable, the beach is still unknown by most tourist, which make it almost private and very clean. Enjoy the day at a quiet beach until the sunset and transfer back to the hotel. Please get your bag ready with a towel and extra clothes as we might head here directly from the airport.

Day 2: VILLAGE of RATENGGARO – WEEKURI LAKE – BEACH MANDORAK (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will visit the traditional village Ratenggaro in Kodi area. Here we will see the traditional high rooftops houses (actually the highest rooftops in whole Sumba) made all by hand and traditionally. This village is the only one of a few traditional villages left in the area, and while the village is just a compound of some houses, each house can accommodate up to 50 family members. During the harvesting season, however, most of the villagers will stay in their fields to work and only leave the elders and children in the village. Locals normally walk their horses and cows to the area so be sure to have the camera ready for the shots. From Ratenggarro we will head to Weekuri Lake, a crystal clear lake that makes it a great place to swim and relax. Spend some time in the lake for taking a short (or long) dip. Next to the Weekuri Lake, we will find Mandorak Beach, guarded with 2 huge rock ridges pointing to the middle and crystal clear water. We will watch the sunset on this beach and head back to the hotel.

DAY 3: TAMBOLAKA AIRPORT (B)

Breakfast at the hotel and free time until we have to go to the airport to catch the flight. Our driver and guide will be ready at the lobby of the hotel at the appointed time to escort us to the airport to catch the flight to our next destination

5 Days Sumba Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : TAMBOLAKA AIRPORT – WATU MALADONG – BWANNA BEACH (L, D)

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked up and welcomed by us. The first activity on the Island will be to Watu Maladong, the beach where you can have a look at the enormous big rocks in the middle of the sea. It gives you slightly the feeling that you are in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. Because of the big rocks magically coming out of the water. After this, we will continue our journey and we will explore Bwanna beach. Before you arrive there, you have to drive on a sandy road that guides you through a massive field of high grass, which gives a very adventurous feeling. First, we will stop at the viewing point where you can view Watu Maladong and Bwanna Beach. The beach of Bwanna is a long clear colorful sand beach under the majestic cliff heading to the Indian Ocean makes this place extraordinary. Whilst its beauty is unquestionable, the beach is still unknown by most tourists, which makes it almost private and very clean. Later on, we climb down to the beach where the big arc is located. The climb is very steep, so you have to be careful! But once you are there, you will be standing on one of the most beautiful beaches in Indonesia.

Day 2 : RATENGGARO-WEEKURI LAKE – MANDORAK (B, L, D)

After waking up and getting ready for a new day of exploring, you will be picked up at your hotel and we will be heading to Ratenggaro village where you can meet the locals, their native culture, and see the traditional Sumbanese houses. The village is built near a beach which you can visit when you are there. You will have a nice view of the village while standing on the beach. You can see the tops of the houses on the higher ground. After the village, we will bring you to Weekuri Lake. This lake is a saltwater lake in the southwest of Sumba. You can take a dive to experience the blue and clear water of Weekuri and also for a possible cooling down. After that you are all dried up, we will continue our journey to Mandorak Beach which is very close to Weekuri Lake. The beach provides a great and peaceful stay with nice spots. The big opening between two rock ridges will let the clear blue water pass through the beach and also let you look far into the ocean. When you are there, you can also take the higher ground which will give a view of the coastline and the rocky cliffs where you can watch the sunset.

Day 3: TARUNG/WAITABAR VILLAGE – PRAIJING – LAPOPU WATERFALL (B, L, D)

A new day, a new adventure. Today the journey will begin at the village of Tarung/ Waitabar which is located just a few minutes west from Waikabubak. There are two villages at this place but they are built so close to each other that it will look like one big village. The village will give you a welcoming feeling while you look around. Next on our adventure will be the La Popu Waterfall. After a drive through the endless hilly and green landscape of Sumba, you will arrive nearby the waterfall. To visit the waterfall, you will need to do a small hike of approximately 15 minutes and cross a bamboo bridge to get there. There is a nice spot to sit down where you can watch the water find its way down the hill. You can also bring your swimwear to take a dive in the water just in front of the big waterfall and cool down after a long day of adventure.

Day 4 : WAIRINDING HILL – WALAKIRI BEACH SUNSET – WAINGAPU TOWN (B, L, D)

On this day, we will be traveling from West- to East-Sumba. From Waikabubak to Waingapu. Gladly there are a lot of things to see on the way to there. Your first destination will be the “Bukit Wairinding”, which means; the Hills of Wairinding. There is a spot where the view into these hills is amazing. You will be looking at green and endless hills. Sit down for a while on the grass and enjoy the moment. The next stop is at Walakiri beach. We will be watching the sunset while exploring the beach. Don’t hesitate and walk towards the small and magical mangrove trees which are growing inside the water. When the sun has disappeared, we will go back to the hotel where you can take a rest. The final destination of today will be Waingapu the capital city of East-Sumba

Day 5 : BUKIT PERSAUDARAAN – WAINGAPU AIRPORT (B)

The last day of this trip is here. So before you go to the airport, we want to show you one more spot which you will be visiting before you leave the Island. The “Bukit Persaudaraan”, the hills where you can stand on one of the highest points and have a look at the landscape which Sumba has to offer. 5 Days Sumatera Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Kualanamu Airport – Bohorok
Upon arrival at Kuala Namu Medan Airport (Morning Flight), meeting service with our guide and transfer to Bohorok located in the southern part of Leuser National Park. You can see Orangutans in Bukit Lawang that are trained to live in their natural habitat.

En-route proceed for Medan city tour. The visits will be at the Great Mosque with its imposing tiled archway with the royal burial ground and one may see also the tall water tower adopted as a symbol of the municipality of Medan back along the main street.

One block to the west across the single-track railway is the Sultan’s Palace; the ceremonial palace of the Sultans of Deli with its yellow trim & typical east coast Malay architecture with living quarters occupied by the Sultan’s families.

Continue to the colonial period main street called Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani passing the Café Tip Top; once a favorite haunt of Medan’s colonial society to the town square where we can see several colonial buildings notably the old town hall with the Grand Aston Hotel as the background, the Bank of Indonesia building (formerly the Javaasche Bank), Inna Dharma Deli Hotel, which incorporates the old DeBoer Hotel and the colonial era Post Office stands virtually unchanged.

Then proceed driving to Kampung Keling; a busy commercial center is as its names imply the original center of Medan’s Indian community with the famous high walled Sri Mariamman Temple devoted to the goddess Kali built in 1884 – the entrance is topped by a small ornamental pyramidal gateway and to the Chinese Temple where a big portion of the Chinese community in Medan still practice an esoteric form of Buddhism imbued with Taoism.

Afterward continue the journey by driving to Bukit Lawang, North Sumatera’s provincial capital would be on the road, which leads west passing through vast rubber and oil palm plantation is accessible and easily brings to Bukit Lawang; one of the main access points to the incredible rain forest of Gunung Leuser; one of Indonesia’s oldest national parks established in 1980 is covering an area of some 7,927 km² in northern Sumatra straddling the border of North Sumatra & Aceh provinces encompassing some of the most spectacular Montana and equatorial forest in Asia and well known as Orangutan Station or Orangutan Care Center.

Day 2: Full Day Trekking – Explorer Bahorok
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to start for a day trekking by walking up through to the surrounding rain forest that is located at the Eastern edge of Gunung Leuser National Park with a chance to observe various tropical plants including a tangle of enormous trees, twisting lianas, palms, ferns, and weird & wonderful flowers and to luckily see wild animals. A simple box Picnic lunch will be provided.

Afterward, leading to the feeding flat form where the orangutans are fed their twice-daily ration of bananas and milk. Watch the orangutan at the feeding site. Then, following a quite steep trail through the forest down to reach a bend in the river crossing by a cable and pulley-driven dug-out canoe. Then, proceed for walking back to the hotel for Accommodation. Lunch will be at the jungle with the simple traditional picnic lunch.

Day 3: Bahorok – Samosir Island
After breakfast at the lodge, at the appropriate time then proceed driving on the main road to Berastagi via Medan. Upon arrival in Medan then stop at The Church of Mary Annai Velangkanni; the uniqueness of the church lies in the originality of its Indo – Mogul architecture (Tamil Nadu), ornaments & displays of color resembling a towering temple.

Afterward proceed the drive on the forested foothills of the Bukit Barisan where s-turns provide a panoramic view to the delightfully cool and picturesque town of Berastagi through the Nature Reserved of Sibolangit, which lies on an escarpment overlooking the lowlands. On the way visit the Lumbini temple a Vietnamese Buddist temple at the Karo land area.

Afterward, proceed driving to Berastagi. Upon arrival in Berastagi, proceed driving to the Fruit Market selling wonderfully fresh fruits, flowers, vegetables & other goodies. Afterward driving to Gundaling Hill to observe both Sinabung & Sibayak mount panoramic views, before heading to the hotel overnight.

Then depart to Danau Toba, the largest lake in Indonesia and the largest volcanic lake in the world. On the way, you will visit the spectacular Sipisopiso waterfall and also the restored Royal Palace in Pematang Purba to visit Batak Karo House with an open floor plan in which used to be related families live together under a single upswept or rectangular roof of juk thatch interspersed with more modern ones.

Next, we will visit Kotagede to see hundred-years old tradition still being practiced by local silver craftsmen. Lunch is served at local restaurant. We will then move on towards Kasongan village to learn the art of clay pottery making with their unique designs. Finally, enjoy an unforgettable romantic sunset at the splendid Parangtritis beach. Our guide and driver will pick you up outside the wall with a paging board where your name wrote on it then directly drive you to Banyumulek Pottery Village where you may see people making pottery from mountain clay with traditional stuff and technique. Most of the villagers in this village make pottery for their living and you may try hand to make pottery directly from the villager. From here then continue to Sukerare The Hand Weaving Village, you can try your hand to make a Sasak traditional attire, they will gladly teach you. From Sukarara, you will continue your tour to visit Narmada Park the old Royal complex. The old king from Bali who once ruled Lombok spent his free time in this park, you will also find the giant garden which is usually called the replica of Mt. Rinjani (miniature of great Rinjani Mountain), holy water spring, and beautiful fresh pool. In this park, the king used to meditate in his old age. Your local guide will escort you to explore the park. Done with Narmada Park, then continue to your next destination, Lingsar Temple. Lingsar Temple is the symbol of harmony between the Sasak tribe (Moslem) and the Balinese tribe (Hindu). This Temple was built by the Balinese king named Anak Agung who once ruled Lombok Island, once a year after the second harvest, local people here will celebrate Perang Topat, Perang means war and topat means Rice cake, so they will throw each other by using Rice cake as a symbol of peace. After exploring this temple, you will continue to your next destination, Senggigi Beach The Tourism Center in Lombok. Senggigi is the most famous tourism object and becomes the icon of tourism for Lombok, you may enjoy the circumstances of the beach and Art Market, also you may take your lunch at a restaurant in the beach area while enjoying the beautiful landscape. After lunch, we will drive you to the North of Senggigi to see the better landscape in Nipah Hill where the view is beyond expectation, you can see the three Gilis (Trawangan, Meno, Air) and mount Agung Bali from this hill, you will be enchanted by the beautiful blue coastal view at the down of the hill. It is called the Lourdes of Indonesia because the Indonesian Catholic Youth in 1945 had the chance to make a pilgrimage to Lourdes and brought the rock where the apparition of Our Lady to be implanted under the feet of the Virgin Mary in Sendangsono as a relic. Sendangsono is being built since 1974 and only rely on the donation of the people. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After breakfast, we will drive directly to Wonosari regency to visit the Maria Tritis cave. The drive takes approximately 2.5 hours. Th Cave of Maria Tritis is adorned by beautiful stalactites and stalagmite, also with the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. We will then drive back to Jogja to visit the Ganjuran Church. Ganjuran Church is a Roman Catholic church decorated with a distinct Javanese cultures and also the 10-meters Hindu-styled temples like the Prambanan.
