Gigilos is a mountain impresive, wild, with its own haracter.l have been numerous of times to Gigilos by my own and with costumers.
I know everything about the perfecture and its history plants and animals.My family is also from the surround area and in the past we all were people from the mountains.
Every one who can be at Gigilos peak can have a great idea how is the west side of the White mountains range. And the feeling of the difference of the altitute plus the suround view and the wildness of the greist white colour of the rock in a complete alpine zone is unbeleivable.

After 45min by car starting from Chania we will be at Zourva village at 550m altitute that is a place with wonderfull amfitheatric view.Starting to hike the path is quite stipy in a cypress forest getting highter and highter.Small openings allowes view to lower villages. After an hour the path is less stipy and the view contains an option to the gorge of Tromarissa on the west and the hightest mountains.Later on the path continiu lower for a while in to a stream and again highter to Tromarissa. There is a spring there with fresh watter all during the year.Gigandium trees exist there, also herbs and several plants.The altitute is 1050m there and the total altitute of the hike up is 600m.It is a hike that people always love available all over the year.The path in the past,used from the locals in due to move hightest and hightest during summertime as locals that had sheep and goads were nomads.My family also were people of the mountain in the past.I am a certified local hiking leader.

After 1 hour by car that you will see cretan nature on the way and small villages close to the White mountains, passing also from Krapi and Askifou plateu we will be to Imbros village.The hike starts there at the north entrance of the gorge.For the first km the path is easy and the clives wide and low.After they become highter and highter and very nerrow. We will pass from the most nerrow passage, Stenada,that is only 1,5 m nerrow.After we will see a natural arch ,Xepitira, that is at the southern part of the path. In the gorge there are plenty aromatic plants and herbs as margoran, dictamos,sage,thrimbi,tyme,sage...Also cypress trees, prunus, ambelitsea...And many.... wild goads free to feed them by themselfes. The path has been used from the locals in the past to go to Chania. Also the allient forces passed from this path at the 2nd word war. Ending to Komitades you can have lunch if you wish so and after we will use a taxi back to Imbros to the car.Great view also to the Lybian sea.

Its a life time experiance.Beeing at the hightest peak of the famous White mountains range.The "desert of the mountains".A complete alpine zone, a peak surrounded of noumerous other peaks,deserd,wild,extrimly goergus. We have a long driving to south, enjoying cretan nature and meet small villages.Arriving to South coast at Chora Sfakion we continiu up to Anopolis that was the capital of the perfecture in the past.We continiu passing drom Aradena brige.The view of the gorge from that point is impresive.Father on is Papadiana where the great hike starts. The first part is easy moving south and lower.Then the hike becomes moderate to Agios Vasilis an abandane old neibourhood with abeutifull church and a great view to Marmara beach, Lybian sea, the gorge and the White mountains un the north. After begines a deficult hike to Marmara beach.
As soon as we will be there you are going to love it .After a small break that you can have a short swim, we continiu up to Livaniana village.All the way the view is great. Then we go father on to Azoyres abandone village.Ruins of a fotress and houses exist there. After we hike into the gorge and oppsite site and trought a dead forest we end at the car and returne back
